Cairo (SONNA) – The governments of the United States and Egypt have expressed strong support for the independence and territorial integrity of the Federal Republic of Somalia. This stance comes in direct opposition to what they describe as the territorial ambitions of the Ethiopian government.
During a joint press conference held in Cairo, Egypt’s Foreign Minister, Badr Abdelatty, and US Secretary of State Antony J. Blinken, made clear their countries’ positions. “The United States and Egypt oppose Ethiopia’s aggression and territorial ambitions,” stated Abdelatty, echoing the sentiments of both nations.
This united front by the US and Egypt shows the importance of Somalia’s sovereignty and the need for regional stability. The support from these influential nations is expected to bolster Somalia’s efforts to maintain its territorial integrity amidst regional tensions.
The press conference highlighted the ongoing diplomatic efforts to address the complex geopolitical dynamics in the Horn of Africa. Both the US and Egypt emphasized their commitment to working with international partners to ensure peace and stability in the region.
