Geneva, (SONNA) – The Director General of the National Identification and Registration Authority (NIRA), Mr. Abdiweli Ali Abdulle (Timacadde), led a delegation to the 7th edition of the Digital Identity Development Forum held in Geneva. This high-level gathering serves as a precursor to the Global Summit on International Cooperation for Digital Identity.
At the forum, NIRA showcased Somalia’s achievements in implementing its National Identity System — a critical pillar for expanding public services and supporting private sector growth.
The event was hosted by the Government of Switzerland in collaboration with the World Bank, the International Telecommunication Union (ITU), and the OpenWallet Forum. Discussions focused on inclusive digital identity technologies and global cooperation toward secure, accessible, and interoperable identity systems.
