Mogadishu, SONNA — The Global Council for Tolerance and Peace has expressed deep appreciation for the warm hospitality and exceptional reception its delegation received during an official visit to the Federal Republic of Somalia. The Council praised the Somali leadership and people for their sincerity, openness, and strong dedication to strengthening cooperation and building genuine partnerships aimed at supporting Somalia’s future stability and development.

In a statement issued during the visit, Ahmed bin Mohamed Aljarwan, President of the Global Council for Tolerance and Peace, said:

“In Somalia, we found a nation rising from profound crises and challenges, yet firmly determined to restore normal life and build a future that reflects the aspirations of the Somali people and what they truly deserve in terms of development and stability. The determination we witnessed—both governmental and popular—to overcome the impacts of past conflicts and to move beyond the ashes of war, reflects a genuine national will to turn the page and open a new chapter defined by hope, work, and reconstruction.”

Aljarwan highlighted the vitality observed across Mogadishu from active markets and ports to a steadily developing airport describing them as clear indicators of Somalia’s growing stability. He noted that scenes of children playing despite the challenges reflect an inspiring determination toward life and progress. The President also commended the Somali government’s significant efforts to facilitate daily life for visitors, investors, and official delegations, reflecting a deliberate direction toward openness and economic growth.

The President affirmed that Somalia, with its rich cultural heritage and strategic importance in the Horn of Africa, is capable of being an influential partner in advancing peace and development regionally and globally. He expressed the Council’s strong confidence in the role of the Somali government, parliament, civil society, and the wider public men and women alike in leading a transformative phase of reconstruction that promises long-term prosperity.

The Global Council emphasized that Somalia is a nation that “loves peace, supports peace, and needs peace,” noting that the international community likewise needs Somalia’s strong and active presence within regional and global security frameworks. The Council reaffirmed its commitment to collaborating closely with Somali partners to promote tolerance, expand sustainable development, empower women and young people, and build a stable state capable of providing meaningful opportunities for future generations.
