Geneva, (SONNA) – The Deputy Prime Minister of the Federal Government of Somalia, Salah Ahmed Jama and a delegation he led engaged with Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, the Director-General of the World Trade Organization (WTO), in Geneva today.
This meeting followed initial discussions held yesterday, marking the beginning of Somalia’s journey towards WTO membership. During the talks, the Deputy Prime Minister emphasized the government’s commitment to successfully navigating the membership process, aiming for Somalia to become an official member of the WTO.
Dr. Okonjo-Iweala assured the delegation of the WTO’s technical support to assist Somalia in achieving its membership goals, highlighting the organization’s dedication to fostering trade and economic growth in member states.
