Mogadishu, SONNA – The Minister of Defence of the Federal Government of Somalia, H.E. Ahmed Moalim Fiqi, today met with the United Nations Office for Project Services (UNOPS) Country Director, Mr. Ala’a Nemera, at the Ministry’s headquarters in Mogadishu.
The meeting centered on strengthening UNOPS’ ongoing non-lethal support to the Somali National Army (SNA) and advancing the digital transformation of the Ministry of Defence through the Somalia Joint Governance and Accountability Project (SJGAP), an initiative focused on enhancing institutional capacity via ICT solutions.
Minister Fiqi commended UNOPS for its practical support and reaffirmed the Ministry’s commitment to modernizing its operations and improving transparency and efficiency through digital tools.
Mr. Nemera reiterated UNOPS’ readiness to continue working closely with the Ministry to deliver sustainable, high-impact solutions in support of Somalia’s security sector reform agenda.
