Mogadishu, (SONNA) — The Minister of Defence of the Federal Government of Somalia, H.E. Ahmed Moallim Fiqi, accompanied by the Chief of the SNA, Major General Odowa Yusuf Rage, today received in his office the Special Representative of the Chairperson of the African Union Commission for Somalia and Head of the African Union Transition Mission in Somalia (AUSSOM), Ambassador El Hadji Ibrahima Diene, his Deputy, Mr. Mouktar Ousman Karie, and the AUSSOM Force Commander, General Sam Kavuma.
The Minister and the Head of AUSSOM discussed strengthening cooperation and coordination between the Ministry of Defence and the Mission, the implementation of the security transition plan, and accelerating ongoing operations against Al-Shabaab.
Minister Fiqi expressed his appreciation to AUSSOM for its significant role in supporting security and stabilisation efforts, particularly in Sector One, and for its contribution to the recent liberation of Bariire town in Lower Shabelle region.
