Jannaale, (SONNA) — The Somali National Army (SNA) and the National Intelligence and Security Agency (NISA) have carried out a joint security operation in areas surrounding the town of Jannaale, located in the Lower Shabelle region. The forces extended their presence to vast areas in an effort to bolster security and disrupt militant activity.
Abdirahman Al-Cadaala, the local Commissioner of Jannaale, addressed residents in the nearby village of Mushaani, stating, “The Khawarij claimed they would hold their Eid prayers in Jannaale, but today, Eid prayers were held in the very areas they once occupied.”
The recent operations are part of a wider military campaign led by the Somali army and local community defense forces known as Macawisley. These coordinated efforts have intensified across the regions of Middle Shabelle, Hiiraan, and Lower Shabelle, where al-Shabaab militants — referred to as Khawarij — have suffered significant losses.
The most notable blow came on Friday in Ceelhareeri, Hiiraan region, where over 40 senior commanders and fighters were killed in a special operation. The offensive was jointly planned by NISA, the Somali National Army, and international partners, marking one of the most decisive attacks against the militants in recent months.
