JEDDAH, Saudi Arabia – The Auditor General of the Federal Republic of Somalia, H.E. Ahmed Isse Gutale, has concluded a significant working visit to Saudi Arabia, where he participated in the 15th General Assembly of the Arab Organization of Supreme Audit Institutions (ARABOSAI).

Held in Jeddah from December 2 to 4, 2025, the high-level gathering was hosted by the General Court of Audit of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. The assembly brought together Supreme Audit Institutions from 22 Arab nations, alongside international organizations dedicated to accountability, anti-corruption, and the promotion of good governance.

The three-day conference focused on strengthening the effectiveness of audit operations across the region. Delegates issued a series of resolutions and recommendations aimed at enhancing public sector accountability and supporting capacity-building initiatives for member institutions. Strategic discussions also explored methods to fortify technical cooperation and facilitate knowledge exchange among Arab nations.

On the sidelines of the General Assembly, Auditor General Gutale held a series of bilateral meetings with the heads of various participating audit institutions. His discussions centered on establishing robust working partnerships to share expertise and develop initiatives that elevate the quality of auditing standards in Somalia.

A key priority for the Somali delegation was securing support for the modernization of the country’s financial oversight mechanisms. Auditor General Gutale engaged counterparts on the Federal Government’s strategic plan to digitize the audit processes of government institutions. This digital transition is designed to increase transparency, improve efficiency, and ensure rigorous oversight of public funds.

The participation of the Office of the Auditor General in this regional forum highlights Somalia’s commitment to adopting international best practices in financial governance and fighting corruption through institutional strengthening.
