Somalia Chief Justice Participates in Africa ADR Leaders Forum in Nairobi

Nairobi, (SONNA) – The Chief Justice of the Federal Republic of Somalia, H.E. Bashe Yusuf Ahmed, participated in the 2nd African Chief Justices’ Forum on Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR), a two-day high-level conference held in Nairobi, Kenya.
Hosted at Safari Park Hotel, the forum brought together chief justices, heads of judicial institutions, and legal experts from across Africa to discuss judicial reforms, improved access to justice, and the promotion of Alternative Dispute Resolution mechanisms as effective tools for resolving disputes.
The conference was officially opened by the President of Kenya, William Ruto, who underscored the importance of strengthening modern dispute-resolution mechanisms to enhance access to justice, reduce court backlogs, and support sustainable development across the continent.
During the forum, Chief Justice Bashe shared Somalia’s experiences and perspectives on judicial development, justice sector reform, and the importance of judicial cooperation among African nations. He also held bilateral meetings with his counterparts to strengthen collaboration and exchange expertise on court administration and the implementation of ADR systems.
The forum follows the inaugural African Chief Justices’ ADR Conference held in Kampala in 2024, where the Africa Chief Justices’ ADR Forum (ACJAF) was established.
Somalia’s participation highlights the country’s growing engagement in continental efforts to advance justice, strengthen judicial cooperation, and promote equitable access to justice for all.
