Somalia Embassy in Kenya Supports Pan-African Biennale in Nairobi

Nairobi, (SONNA) — The Embassy of the Federal Republic of Somalia to Kenya has announced its partnership with and support for the Pan-African Biennale, a continental institution dedicated to architecture, urbanism and spatial practice across Africa.

The Biennale brings together practitioners, thinkers and communities representing all 54 African nations, providing a platform for Africa to define, document and advance its own architectural and urban narratives.

For Somalia, the partnership holds particular significance, reflecting the country’s experience with the relationship between place, identity, resilience and reconstruction. The Embassy noted that architecture extends beyond the construction of buildings, playing a role in preserving memory, restoring dignity, strengthening communities and shaping the future.

The inaugural Biennale in Nairobi, held under the theme “Shifting the Center: From Fragility to Resilience,” reflects shared African experiences and the ingenuity emerging from communities across the continent.

The Embassy congratulated Mr. Omar Degan, Founder and Director of the Pan-African Biennale, and the entire Biennale team for their vision, discipline and collective effort in establishing the continental initiative.
