Interior Ministry, Somali National University Advance Peace Education Partnership

Mogadishu, (SONNA) – The Director General of the Ministry of Interior, Federal Affairs and Reconciliation of Somalia, Mr. Abdulkadir Ali, today held talks with the Rector of the Somali National University, Prof. Dr. Mohamed Mahmoud Mohamed, and Vice Rector, Dr. Fuad Mire Hassan, to strengthen cooperation on the National Peace Education Initiative (NPEI).

The meeting focused on expanding collaboration between the Ministry and the University to integrate peace education into higher learning institutions, strengthen research and knowledge exchange, and equip Somali youth with the skills and values needed to promote dialogue, reconciliation, and social cohesion.

The two sides also agreed to fast-track the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), paving the way for a long-term partnership that will support curriculum development, academic capacity building, joint research, and other collaborative initiatives aimed at fostering a culture of peace and strengthening national resilience across Somalia.
