Somalia’s House Secretary General Chairs EAC Parliamentary Meeting in Nairobi

Nairobi, (SONNA) — The Secretary General of Somalia’s House of the People, Abdirahman Mohamed Abdulle (Jaabiri), chaired a meeting of Secretaries General of Parliaments of East African Community (EAC) member states in Nairobi, focusing on strengthening parliamentary cooperation and coordination across the region.

The meeting reviewed and discussed the Secretariat’s report, with deliberations focusing on enhancing coordination among legislative bodies, strengthening accountability, and improving the efficiency and effectiveness of parliamentary secretariats across EAC member states.

The Secretaries General also prepared recommendations and proposals to be submitted to the Council of Speakers of EAC member-state parliaments for consideration.

Participants emphasized the importance of continued dialogue, mutual understanding and parliamentary coordination in advancing cooperation and the shared objectives and interests of the East African Community.
