Independence Committee Inspects Military Preparations Ahead of July 1 Celebrations

Mogadishu, (SONNA) – The National Organising Committee for Somalia’s Independence and Unity Week today inspected the Somali National Armed Forces (SNA) as preparations intensify for the July 1 Independence and Unity Day celebrations.
Led by the Minister of Interior, Federal Affairs and Reconciliation, H.E. Ali Yusuf Ali (Ali Hosh), and joined by the Minister of Defence, H.E. Ahmed Moallim Fiqi, the committee visited General Gordon Military Camp in Mogadishu, where units of the Somali National Armed Forces are making their final preparations for the national celebrations.
During the visit, the committee reviewed the readiness of troops who will participate in the military parade and ceremonial displays marking Somalia’s Independence and Unity Day. The officials commended the Armed Forces for their professionalism, discipline, and high level of preparedness.
The committee also paid tribute to the Somali National Armed Forces for their continued sacrifices in defending the nation’s sovereignty, protecting its people, and preserving the unity and values for which generations of Somalis fought to achieve independence.
Officials emphasized that the dedication of the Armed Forces remains central to safeguarding Somalia’s security and ensuring the successful celebration of the country’s Independence and Unity Week. They encouraged the troops to continue demonstrating the professionalism, capability, and operational readiness that reflect the strength and resilience of Somalia’s national security institutions.
