Mogadishu (SONNA): Commander of the Somali National Army (SNA), Major General Ibrahim Mohamed Mahmoud, held talks with the Defense Attaché of the Embassy of the Arab Republic of Egypt in Somalia, Major General Ahmed Fathi Abdelsattar, on enhancing bilateral military cooperation.
The meeting focused on strengthening collaboration in military training, support for the African Union Support and Stabilization Mission in Somalia (AUSSOM), and advancing defense relations between Somalia and Egypt.
During the discussions, the SNA Commander underscored the importance of further reinforcing the longstanding ties between the two countries and expanding the close cooperation that exists between Somalia and Egypt in the defense sector.
For his part, Major General Ahmed Fathi Abdelsattar reaffirmed Egypt’s commitment to continuing its support for Somalia, particularly in efforts aimed at enhancing security, stability, and the operational capacity of the Somali National Army.
The SNA Commander concluded by expressing appreciation to the Egyptian government for its continued support to Somalia, especially in the areas of defense cooperation, military training, and capacity-building for the Somali National Army.
