Dhusamareb, (SONNA): Residents of Abudwaq district in Somalia’s Galgadud region have welcomed the ongoing voter registration process aimed at paving the way for one-person, one-vote elections across the country.
During a community gathering attended by traditional elders, politicians, religious scholars, youth, and women, participants expressed their support for the registration exercise, describing it as a vital step toward enabling citizens to determine their political future and choose representatives who reflect the interests of their communities.
Speakers at the event underscored the importance of broad public participation in the electoral process, emphasizing that the right to vote and be elected is fundamental to strengthening democratic governance.
The Federal Government’s DanQaran administration is intensifying efforts to advance universal suffrage, with the goal of ensuring that Somali citizens have a direct say in selecting their leaders and exercising their democratic rights.
