Baku, (SONNA) — The Ministry of Public Works, Reconstruction and Housing of the Federal Government of Somalia, H.E. Ayub Ismail Yusuf is participating in the 13th World Urban Forum 13 taking place in Baku.
The global forum, organized by the UN-Habitat, has brought together governments, international organizations, development banks, and various partners working on urban development, housing, and community advancement.
Somalia’s Minister of Public Works, Reconstruction and Housing, Ayub Ismail Yusuf, attended the forum alongside representatives from international organizations and development partners.
In his address, the minister stated that the Somali government is implementing a comprehensive strategy aimed at building an integrated system linking housing, land management, climate adaptation, and local economic development in order to strengthen stability and achieve sustainable growth.
He also noted that the ministry has prepared new studies and plans to improve the country’s housing and land administration systems, which will serve as a foundation for urban reconstruction and the expansion of public services.
The minister further highlighted Somalia’s ongoing strategic development projects in cities including Beledweyne, Doolow, and the Jasiira area of Mogadishu, focusing on affordable housing, economic infrastructure, and the construction of climate-resilient urban centers.
