Mogadishu, (SONNA) — The Chairman of the National Disaster Management Agency (SoDMA), Mahmoud Moallin Abdulle, on Tuesday received the United Nations Under-Secretary-General for Humanitarian Affairs and Emergency Relief Coordinator, Tom Fletcher, at the agency’s headquarters in Mogadishu following his arrival in the capital a day earlier.
The meeting, attended by senior representatives from humanitarian organizations, focused on the evolving humanitarian situation in Somalia and ways to strengthen coordinated efforts to respond effectively to ongoing challenges across the country.
Fletcher noted that his visit aims to assess the impact of humanitarian crises driven by recurrent droughts, widespread displacement, and the effects of climate change, underscoring the need for enhanced international support and collaboration to address the country’s urgent needs.
