Mogadishu, (SONNA) — The Chairperson of the Independent Constitutional Review and Implementation Commission (ICRIC), Burhaan Adan Omar, citing the constitutional mandate of the Commission as stipulated in Chapter 15 of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Somalia (2026), shares the following with government institutions and the Somali public:
- Any administrative action, appointment, or oath carried out by a government institution must comply with the provisions of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Somalia. Any action or matter that contradicts the Constitution shall be null and void, and it becomes a constitutional obligation to correct it and bring it into legal conformity.
- Members of the Council of Ministers who are part of either House of the Federal Parliament of Somalia or the Houses of Representatives of the Federal Member States must vacate their positions within the period stipulated under Article 81(1)(f) of the Constitution. Likewise, any subsequent appointment must follow the procedures outlined in the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Somalia.
- The Commission will issue a clear roadmap related to the transition and implementation of the Constitution and will also release a constitutional public awareness plan.
- The Commission is working to ensure that every citizen obtains a copy of the Constitution and that it is made easily accessible to all citizens.
