Mogadishu, (SONNA) — The Minister of Family Affairs and Human Rights of the Federal Government of Somalia, H.E. Khadija Mohamed Al-Makhzumi formally submitted to the African Union the instrument of ratification of the African Charter on the Rights and Welfare of the Child, reaffirming Somalia’s firm commitment to upholding and advancing the rights and welfare of children.
The handover ceremony, held at the AU Headquarters in Addis Ababa, was presided over by H.E. Moussa Mohamed Omar, in the presence of Prof. Hajer Gueldich.
“In my remarks, I underscored that this important step reflects Somalia’s continued dedication to implementing its international and regional obligations, and to strengthening national frameworks that protect and promote the rights and well-being of every Somali child”, the Minister said.
