Baidoa, (SONNA) — The President of the Federal Republic of Somalia, H.E. Hassan Sheikh Mohamud, held a key meeting with traditional elders from South West State in Baidoa, focusing on strengthening peace, reconciliation, and governance.
The discussions centered on advancing community reconciliation, reinforcing the democratization process, addressing the ongoing drought, and promoting state-building efforts.
President Hassan Sheikh praised the elders for their historic role in preserving unity, resolving conflicts, and supporting nation-building. He emphasized the importance of close cooperation between the government and traditional leadership to achieve sustainable peace and development.
In response, the traditional elders expressed appreciation for the President’s visit and the Federal Government’s continued efforts in peacebuilding, reconciliation, and development in South West State. They also reaffirmed their support for national plans aimed at strengthening governance and democracy across the country.
