Rome, SONNA — The Commander of the Somali National Army (SNA) Land Forces, Brigadier General Sahal Abdullahi Omar, has participated in the African Land Forces Summit 2026 held in Rome, Italy, joining fellow military leaders and international partners to advance security cooperation and strategic coordination.
The annual summit, organized by the United States, convenes African Land Forces Commanders alongside global defense partners to address shared security priorities, enhance military capabilities, and strengthen collaborative frameworks across the continent.
This year’s discussions placed significant emphasis on the evolving role of modern technology in warfare, particularly the increasing use of drones and their impact on military operations and strategic planning. Participants explored how emerging technologies are reshaping battlefield dynamics and influencing future defense strategies.
