Mogadishu, SONNA — The National Intelligence and Security Agency (NISA), in collaboration with international partners, carried out coordinated operations targeting militias and leaders of the Kharijites in the Hiran and Mudug regions, killing more than 22 individuals involved in planning attacks against the security of the Somali people.
The operations were conducted as part of ongoing efforts to dismantle terrorist networks and prevent threats posed by the extremist group across central regions of the country.
The first operation took place in the Dumaaye area of Mudug region, where security forces targeted a gathering place used by militias and senior leaders of the Kharijites.
The official statement noted, the strike resulted in the death of up to 15 militants, including several key leaders identified as:
- Hudeyfa Galinle – deputy of the Mudug representative
- Qatatow – former leader of the Mudug militia
- Abdirahman Garwayne – leader of the Jowle area
- Dahir – leader of the Dumaye and Dabagalo militia
- Abdiwali – former leader of the Ba’adweyne militia
In a separate operation in the Mahas district of Hiran region, security forces targeted two houses where leaders and militias were staying. The individuals were reportedly serving as guards for Mustafa Caato, described as a senior militant leader in the Hiran region.
The operation resulted in the death of seven (7) militants, including two figures responsible for managing the group’s financial operations:
- Qalif Mumin Sabriya
- Osman Abdulle Farah
Authorities also confirmed that vehicles used by the militant leaders were destroyed during the operation.
NISA stated that operations to track down and dismantle terrorist networks will continue in order to eliminate the remaining elements of the Kharijites and secure areas affected by militant activities.
The agency reaffirmed its commitment to intensifying operations aimed at removing terrorist groups from their remaining hideouts and strengthening the safety and security of the Somali people.
