Mogadishu, (SONNA) — The Director General of the Somali Immigration and Citizenship Agency, Mr. Mustafa Dhuxulow, on Tuesday held talks at his office with the United Nations Special Envoy for Somalia and Head of UNSOS, James Swan, and a delegation he led.
During the meeting, Director General Dhuxulow briefed the delegation on recent progress made by the agency in improving service delivery, including the implementation of border security management systems and the modernization of digital services such as electronic travel authorization (ETAS), residency services, and passport issuance.
He noted that the reforms are part of broader efforts to enhance efficiency, strengthen transparency, and align Somalia’s immigration system with modern international standards.
James Swan thanked the Director General for the warm reception and the close cooperation between the United Nations and the agency. He commended the newly introduced systems, describing them as a positive step toward strengthening the modernization and security of Somalia’s immigration framework.
The UN Special Envoy also discussed issues related to visa and residency arrangements for United Nations personnel, including various categories of staff currently operating in Somalia.
