Mogadishu, SONNA – The President of the Federal Republic of Somalia, H.E. Hassan Sheikh Mohamud, hosted an iftar meeting with leaders of the country’s political organizations to discuss the general political situation and efforts to strengthen Somalia’s nascent democratic process.
The gathering provided a platform for open dialogue on improving the electoral system and advancing inclusive political participation across the country.
During the discussions, President Hassan Sheikh listened to proposals and perspectives from political leaders regarding electoral reforms and mechanisms to ensure broader citizen engagement. He urged political stakeholders to reinforce cooperation and actively participate in the planned one-person, one-vote elections across the regions of Somalia.
The President reaffirmed the Federal Government’s commitment to building a democratic system grounded in transparency, inclusivity, and the will of the Somali people.
For their part, leaders of the political organizations underscored the importance of unity, consultation, and maintaining political stability to ensure comprehensive governance and a credible democratic process.
The meeting was attended by the Deputy Prime Minister, Saleh Ahmed Jama; the Minister of Interior, Federal Affairs and Reconciliation, Ali Yusuf Ali Hosh; the Minister of Justice and Constitutional Affairs, Hassan Moalim Mohamud; and the Director General of the Presidency, Abdikarim Mohamed Yusuf.
The iftar meeting reflects continued efforts by the Federal Government to promote dialogue and consensus-building as Somalia advances toward democratic transformation.
