Mogadishu, (SONNA) — The Somali National Army, in coordination with international partners, carried out an airstrike targeting militants belonging to Al-Shabaab terrorist group, who were planting improvised explosive devices (IEDs) along the road linking the areas of Masajid Ali Gaduud and Daaru Salaam in the Middle Shabelle region.
The operation specifically targeted militants who were planning to harm civilians travelling along key routes within the region.
The airstrike resulted in the elimination of 15 militants and the complete destruction of a vehicle used to plant explosives, along with all weapons on board.
The Ministry of Defence and the Somali National Army reaffirm their commitment to continuing planned operations aimed at eliminating the remaining terrorist elements, in order to ensure the security, stability, and safety of the Somali people.
