MOGADISHU (SONNA) — The Deputy Prime Minister of the Federal Republic of Somalia, H.E. Salah Ahmed Jama, officially presided over the closing ceremony of the Regional Somali Language Academy (AGA) conference on Thursday. The four-day gathering, hosted by the Federal Government in Mogadishu, brought together scholars, dignitaries, and cultural envoys to deliberate on the future of the Somali language.
The closing session witnessed the participation of high-ranking officials, including the Federal Minister of Education, H.E. Farah Abdulkadir. The event also welcomed regional delegates such as the Deputy Minister of Culture and Tourism of the Somali Region within Ethiopia, Salad Dhagar Yusuf, and Kenyan envoy Ali Afey, demonstrating the cross-border significance of the academy’s mission.
Throughout the summit, the committee members engaged in rigorous discussions focused on the standardization and advancement of the Somali language. Key topics included strengthening linguistic research capabilities, preserving cultural heritage, and enhancing collaboration among the member states united under the AGA umbrella.

This document outlines the academy’s strategic roadmap for the next three years, setting clear goals for the preservation and promotion of the language across East Africa.
The ceremony featured remarks from the leadership of the academy, including Chairman Ma’allin Said Salah and Deputy Chairman Ismail Abdi Ahmed, who expressed their commitment to implementing the resolutions agreed upon during the conference.
