Cairo, (SONNA) — The Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Somalia to Egypt and Permanent Representative to the Arab League, Hon. Ali Abdi Awari, on Saturday underscored the importance of President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud’s visit to Egypt and his meeting today with Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi in Cairo, describing the visit as carrying significant political and strategic implications.
Ambassador Awari said the visit reflects the depth of the longstanding fraternal and historical relations between Somalia and Egypt, and demonstrates the shared commitment of both countries to strengthening bilateral cooperation and maintaining close coordination on regional and international issues of mutual interest.
He noted that the meeting between the two presidents provides an important opportunity to further advance bilateral relations and expand cooperation across key sectors, including security and stability, institutional capacity building, sustainable development, education, and health.
The Somali ambassador praised Egypt’s pivotal and appreciated role in supporting Somalia, highlighting that Cairo’s support stems from strong Arab and African bonds. He also commended Egypt’s continued backing of Somalia’s efforts to achieve security, stability, and the reconstruction of state institutions.
Ambassador Awari concluded by expressing Somalia’s hope that the visit will further consolidate bilateral ties, strengthen frameworks of joint cooperation, and serve the aspirations and interests of both nations, while contributing to peace and stability in the Horn of Africa and the Arab world.
