Mogadishu, (SONNA) — The Prime Minister of the Federal Government of Somalia, H.E. Hamza Abdi Barre, officially laid the foundation stone for the construction of a new central headquarters for the Ministry of Finance. The modern facility will replace the old building constructed in 1980 and is intended to meet the expanding needs and responsibilities of the ministry.
The Prime Minister stated that the project is part of the DanQaran Government’s policy to develop the country’s economic infrastructure and strengthen public institutions. He noted that the new building will significantly improve the ministry’s service delivery to the Somali public and ease long-standing challenges related to limited office space and working facilities.
Prime Minister Hamza described the Ministry of Finance as the backbone of Somalia’s economic development and praised the efforts of the Minister of Finance, H.E. Bihi Iman Egeh, and the ministry’s staff in modernizing and reforming the country’s revenue and financial infrastructure.
“I am pleased that today we are laying the foundation stone for a large and well-equipped central headquarters whose safety and quality have been fully ensured. Once completed, the building will accommodate all staff and leadership of the ministry. I congratulate you on this important step toward improving service delivery,” Prime Minister Hamza said.
The Ministry of Finance has prepared a modern architectural design reflecting advanced office facilities, with measures in place to ensure environmental safety and reliable electricity supply. The African Development Bank is contributing to the construction of the new headquarters, playing a key role in supporting the development of Somalia’s economic infrastructure.
