Mogadishu(SONNA)-The Minister of Justice and Constitutional Affairs, H.E. Hassan Moallim, has submitted the Somali Criminal Code to the House of the People following its approval by the Council of Ministers.
The Minister noted that the current code, Law No. 5 of 1962, has been in force for over 60 years and no longer reflects modern social and legal realities. During the bill’s first reading, lawmakers raised questions on its general principles, which the Minister addressed.
He urged Parliament to carefully review the bill to ensure a fair, effective, and modern justice framework that meets the needs of the Somali people.
