Mogadishu (SONNA) – The Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of the Federal Government of Somalia, H.E. Abdisalam Abdi Ali, on Monday received the Ambassador of the Republic of Sudan to Somalia, H.E. Abdulrahman Khalil Ahmed Abubakar, who paid a courtesy visit to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs headquarters in Mogadishu.
During the meeting, the two sides discussed strengthening Somalia’s sovereignty, unity, and territorial integrity, as well as enhancing bilateral cooperation between Somalia and Sudan.
The Sudanese Ambassador reaffirmed his country’s full support for Somalia and congratulated the Somali people on the successful conduct of one-person, one-vote local elections, held for the first time in 57 years.
The meeting also highlighted the strategic importance of the Red Sea, the Bab al-Mandab Strait, and the Indian Ocean, along with Somalia’s role as a current non-permanent member of the United Nations Security Council.
Minister Abdisalam expressed his appreciation to the Ambassador for his recent visit to Lasanod, noting that it contributed to reinforcing Somalia’s national unity and territorial cohesion.
