Laascanood, — The Prime Minister of the Federal Government of Somalia, H.E. Hamza Abdi Barre held a productive meeting with traditional elders in Laascanood, who were among delegations visiting the capital of the North Eastern State of Somalia to attend the inauguration ceremony of the region’s new leadership.
The elders represented various regions, including Puntland, Jubbaland, the Somali Regional State, and North Eastern Somalia.
Prime Minister Hamza Abdi Barre thanked the traditional leaders for their vital role in peacebuilding, particularly in resolving inter-clan conflicts in different parts of the country. He highlighted their respected and historic role in strengthening social cohesion, national unity, and lasting peace among the Somali people.
The Prime Minister emphasized that traditional elders and intellectuals bear both religious and constitutional responsibilities to safeguard peace, preserve national unity, and find solutions to conflicts rooted in clan divisions. He commended their recent efforts in mediation, reconciliation, and promoting coexistence within Somali communities.
Prime Minister Hamza further urged the elders to continue strengthening their leadership role by supporting the establishment, development, and consolidation of the emerging North Eastern State administration, with the aim of building governance founded on peace, justice, and unity.
