Mogadishu, (SONNA) — The President of the Federal Republic of Somalia, H.E. Hassan Sheikh Mohamud, held a consultative meeting with some Federal Member State Presidents and the Governor of Banadir Region to discuss safeguarding Somalia’s sovereignty and national unity.
During the meeting, President Hassan Sheikh briefed the leaders on the Federal Government’s plan to counter actions he described as violations against the sovereignty of Somalia and its people, allegedly committed by the Prime Minister of Israel. The President emphasized that the government, in partnership with the Somali people, has intensified efforts to protect the country’s independence and unity through international legal and diplomatic frameworks.
He underscored the importance of national cohesion and collective action in confronting what he termed misguided ambitions that undermine Somalia’s existence and statehood.
The Presidents of the Southwest, Galmudug, Hirshabelle, and SSC-Khaatumo (Waqooyi-bari) Federal Member States, along with the Governor of Banadir Region who attended the meeting, reaffirmed that Somaliland is an integral part of the territory and sovereignty of the Federal Republic of Somalia. They warned of the unwelcomed consequences and potential security risks such actions could pose to regional stability.
The leaders further expressed their full support for the President and the Federal Government’s ongoing domestic and international diplomatic efforts to defend Somalia’s sovereignty and national unity.
