Tangier (SONNA) – The Prime Minister of the Federal Government of Somalia, H.E. Hamza Abdi Barre, delivered a keynote address at the closing session of the MEDays International Forum in the Kingdom of Morocco, where he underscored the vital importance of strengthened connectivity and cooperation among nations of the Global South.

In his remarks, the Prime Minister highlighted the new chapter Somalia has entered, noting that the country is reclaiming its historical standing and international stature. He emphasized that Somalia is now a stable nation with reliable security and political direction, undergoing meaningful reforms and reconstruction that position it to play a constructive role in regional and global stability.

“We did not come here seeking charity,” Prime Minister Hamza stated. “We came seeking partnership — ready to contribute ideas, engage in meaningful exchanges, and take part in addressing the challenges we collectively face.”

The Prime Minister further stressed that Africa can no longer remain a passive observer in global affairs, calling for the continent to assume a proactive and influential role in shaping future international agendas.

This year’s MEDays Forum, which ran for four days, concluded with Somalia playing a leading role and securing broad partnerships and cooperation beneficial to both its immediate and long-term national interests.
