Riyadh, (SONNA) – The Second Deputy Prime Minister of the Federal Government of Somalia, H.E. Jibriil Abdirashiid Abdi, participated in the 21st session of the UNIDO General Conference, highlighting the event’s inspiring theme on harnessing the power of global investment.
In his address, the Deputy Prime Minister said Somalia stands at a “historic and decisive moment,” having overcome decades of challenges and now witnessing tangible progress across the country.
“Blessed with one of the longest coastlines in Africa, we are accelerating efforts to strengthen food security and build a sustainable blue economy,” he said. “Somalia is ready to become the regional hub for sustainable fisheries. We will enhance maritime protection, promote blue-economy industries, and expand investment in fisheries production — from processing to global marketing.”
He also emphasized that Somali youth remain the nation’s greatest asset, noting that the government is committed to expanding cooperation on technical training and digital innovation to empower young people to drive the country’s economic transformation.
