Mogadishu (SONNA) — Somalia today is celebrating the National Teachers’ Day with a major ceremony held at the National Sports Village inside Stadium Mogadishu. The event brought together senior government officials, the education fraternity, and members of the wider public to honor the country’s teachers.
Somalia officially designated 21 November 1974 as Teachers’ Day, a moment each year when both the government and citizens jointly recognize the invaluable role educators play in shaping the nation.
The day is considered one of Somalia’s most important national observances. As part of the annual tradition, schools and all other educational institutions across the country remain closed to allow students and communities to reflect on and celebrate the vital contribution of teachers to Somalia’s social and national development.
