Somalia’s Immigration Authority Blocks Unlawful Attempt to Breach e-Visa Data

Mogadishu, (SONNA) — The Immigration and Citizenship Authority (ICA) confirms that it has detected an unlawful breach targeting parts of the data of individuals travelling to Somalia (e-Visa). The attempt was immediately identified and swiftly prevented.

The Government of Somalia is treating this matter with the highest level of seriousness. A national-level investigation team—comprising government agencies and accredited international forensic experts—has been tasked with determining the scope of the attempt, its source, and its overall impact.

A comprehensive report detailing the findings of the investigation, the data involved, and the corrective measures undertaken will be released once the inquiry is formally concluded.

During this period, all individuals who may have been affected will be notified directly through official government communication channels.

For accurate information on visa-related matters, the public is advised to contact only the Immigration and Citizenship Authority.

The ICA deeply regrets this incident and reaffirms that protecting personal data is a fundamental responsibility. The Authority is enhancing modern data-protection standards and multi-layer authentication (multi-factor authentication) across all its digital services.
