Mogadishu, (SONNA) – The Governor of Banadir Region and Mayor of Mogadishu, Dr. Hassan Mohamed Hussein (Muungaab), on Saturday officially laid the foundation stone for the renovation and construction of 18 modern health facilities equipped with comprehensive medical supplies. The project aims to strengthen healthcare services for residents of the capital. The ceremony was held at the Waaberi Maternal and Child Health (MCH) Center, with members of the health sector in attendance.
The initiative includes the construction of four major hospitals and 14 MCH centers across 11 districts of Mogadishu, with a particular focus on improving maternal and child healthcare. Officials say the facilities will expand access to quality medical services for mothers and children in underserved communities.
Dr. Muungaab emphasized that all the new health centers will provide free medical services, a move designed to support low-income families and reduce reliance on costly private healthcare. He noted that the project reflects the administration’s commitment to safeguarding the right to healthcare and ensuring equitable access for all residents.
During the ceremony, the Mayor also addressed the upcoming elections, urging citizens to visit registration centers and collect their voter cards, as distribution has officially begun. He reminded residents that participating in the electoral process is a civic duty and essential for strengthening democracy and stability in the region.
