Mogadishu, SONNA – The Acting Minister and Deputy Minister of Information, Culture and Tourism of the Federal Government of Somalia, Mr. Abdirahman Yusuf Al-Adala, today received in his office the Executive Secretary of the East African Kiswahili Commission (EAKC), Dr. Caroline Asiimwe.
The meeting focused on enhancing cooperation between Somalia and the EAKC in promoting the Swahili language across key sectors, including media, education, and culture, in line with regional integration efforts under the East African Community (EAC).
Following the discussions, Minister Al-Adala reaffirmed Somalia’s commitment to supporting Swahili language initiatives, noting that it serves as an important bridge for cultural exchange and regional unity.
The Federal Government of Somalia is ready to be part of the efforts to implement the Swahili language, especially in the fields of media, education and culture,” said Minister Al-Adala.
The visit by Dr. Asiimwe marks another step in strengthening Somalia’s engagement within the East African Community framework, particularly in promoting linguistic and cultural integration across member states.
