MOGADISHU (SONNA) – The Minister of Health and Social Care of the Federal Government of Somalia, H.E. Ali Li Haji Adan, today officially launched a new project aimed at supporting vulnerable mothers and children in drought-affected regions.
The initiative is specifically designed to provide immediate health and nutritional assistance to those most in need.
This crucial project is funded by the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Centre (KSRelief) and will be implemented by the World Food Programme (WFP). The plan is set to benefit Somali families who require urgent health and nutrition support, with the primary goal of reducing the severe impact of malnutrition and related diseases.
A launch ceremony for the project was held in Mogadishu, gathering key stakeholders. Attendees included officials from the Ministry of Health, representatives from WFP and KSRelief, and various health partners from both the government and international organizations.
Speaking at the event, the Minister of Health and Social Care stressed that the project is essential for saving the lives of vulnerable communities. He extended his deep appreciation to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia for its consistent and steadfast support for the Somali people.
“This project will significantly contribute to reducing the hardships of malnutrition in drought-affected areas,” said the Health Minister. “It also reflects the excellent relationship and cooperation between Somalia and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.”
