Mogadishu, (SONNA) — The Prime Minister of the Federal Republic of Somalia, H.E. Hamza Abdi Barre, conducted an urgent inspection of a National Identification Registration Agency (NIRA) center in Hodan district, Banaadir, following complaints from the public about delays and service difficulties.
During the visit, the Prime Minister instructed agency officials to simplify procedures and make services more accessible. He emphasized: “The images we’ve seen on social media are unacceptable. Young women should not be forced to come at night or sleep outside—their safety is at risk and this is inappropriate. Extending working hours to ease congestion and making services easier for the public is essential.”
PM Hamza also directed NIRA to separate registration and ID collection queues, ensuring that individuals collecting their cards do not have to join the same line as new registrants, making the process more efficient and safer for citizens.
