MOGADISHU, (SONNA) — The National Intelligence and Security Agency (NISA) of the Federal Republic of Somalia, in collaboration with international partners, has conducted a planned operation in Ceel-weyne village, near Ceel-baraf in Mahaday district of Middle Shabelle region, killing 23 Al-Shabaab militants, including senior commanders.
According to security officials, the operation targeted a location where the militants had recently regrouped to organize attacks aimed at undermining national stability. The raid followed verified intelligence indicating that the group was using the site as a base for their activities.
A similar operation was carried out in the same area on October 30, 2025, in which Al-Shabaab also suffered heavy losses.
Authorities confirmed that no civilian casualties were recorded during the latest offensive.
