Mogadishu(SONNA)- Somalia’s Deputy Prime Minister, Saleh Ahmed Jama, today held a high-level meeting to accelerate the Jowhar Off-stream Storage Programme (JOSP), a key initiative under the National Transformation Plan (2025–2029).
Deputy Prime Minister Jama described the project as a “national priority and central pillar” of Somalia’s development strategy. He highlighted that JOSP will improve water management, boost agricultural productivity, and reduce reliance on foreign aid, benefiting over 300,000 citizens.
The meeting convened government officials, development partners, UN agencies, and civil society representatives to review progress, address challenges, and mobilize technical and financial support. Officials noted that the project will enable communities to fully utilize natural resources, fostering sustainable development and improved livelihoods.
