GENEVA, SWITZERLAND (SONNA) – The Second Deputy Speaker of the House of the People of the Federal Parliament of Somalia, Abdullahi Omar Abshirow, is leading a parliamentary delegation from both houses to the opening of the 151st Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) in Geneva, Switzerland.
This year’s assembly is focused on the critical themes of protecting human rights and supporting humanitarian efforts during periods of global crisis. Throughout the conference, delegates will discuss these issues and exchange views and recommendations on effective solutions.
Deputy Speaker Abshirow is scheduled to address the assembly, where he will speak about the general situation in Somalia, the government’s recent achievements in counter-terrorism and security, and issues related to the core theme of the assembly.
