MOGADISHU โ The Somali Disaster Management Agency (SoDMA) has achieved international recognition, receiving an award today at the World Food Forum. This prestigious acknowledgment comes as a result of SoDMAโs persistent efforts in developing and strengthening Early Warning Systems and implementing effective disaster prevention measures.
The award was presented by the Director-General of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO). It was received on behalf of Somalia by the Minister of Agriculture and Irrigation, who represented SoDMA at the forum.
This achievement highlights the crucial role SoDMA plays in advancing the global Early Warnings for All initiative (#EW4All) and building the resilience of the Somali community. These efforts are aimed at mitigating the impact of the recurring natural disasters affecting the country.
SoDMA affirmed its commitment to continuing its work in building a society that is resilient to hazards and climate change, with a clear focus on protecting the lives and livelihoods of the Somali people.
