Mogadishu, (SONNA) — The Speaker of the House of the People of the Federal Parliament of Somalia, H.E. Sheikh Adan Mohamed Noor (Madoobe), accompanied by the Second Deputy Speaker, Hon. Abdullahi Omar Abshirow, chaired a meeting of the Standing Committee held at Villa Hargeisa.
At the outset, Speaker Madoobe briefed the members on Somalia’s recent achievement at the United Nations Human Rights Council, where a resolution was adopted allowing Somalia to regain full control over its national human rights affairs.
The Standing Committee then discussed the list of nine nominees for the Independent Human Rights Commission, which will soon be presented to the full House for deliberation.
Additionally, the meeting set the agenda for next week’s plenary sessions of the House of the People.
