Beijing, (SONNA) – Officials from the Somali Disaster Management Agency (SoDMA) have concluded a training program in Beijing, China, focused on disaster prevention and mitigation in Somalia.
The training was organized by China’s Ministry of Commerce and implemented by the Red Cross Society of China.
The closing ceremony, held at the headquarters of the Red Cross Society of China, was attended by senior representatives from the Somali Embassy in Beijing led by Ambassador Hodan Osman Abdi. Remarks were also delivered by Mr. Song Yi, Deputy Director General of the External Liaison Department of the Red Cross Society of China, and Mr. Yin Zheng, Deputy Director of the Chinese Red Cross National Training Center. Both urged the SoDMA officials to transfer the knowledge and skills gained during the training back home to strengthen Somalia’s disaster management efforts.
Mr. Song Yi highlighted the importance of cooperation between the two institutions and praised the dedication of the Somali participants, adding that further capacity-building programs will continue in the future.
The ceremony was formally closed by Ambassador Hodan Osman Abdi, who expressed Somalia’s deep appreciation to the People’s Republic of China for its continued support, and extended heartfelt thanks to the Ministry of Commerce and the Red Cross Society of China for facilitating the training.
