Mogadishu, (SONNA) – Deputy Prime Minister of the Federal Government of Somalia, H.E. Jibril Abdirashid Haji Abdi, underscored the government’s strong commitment to advancing the tourism sector during the commemoration of Somalia Tourism Day on Tuesday.

He stressed that the DanQaran Government has prioritized tourism services and infrastructure development, noting that Somalia’s natural resources and rich cultural heritage present vast opportunities for growth.

“Tourism is a vital source of national income and a bridge for social and international cooperation, particularly with regional blocs such as the East African Community and IGAD,” he said.

Minister of Information, Culture and Tourism, H.E. Daud Aweis Jama, also emphasized the role of tourism, stating: “Tourism in Somalia plays a vital role in boosting the national economy and creating jobs for Somali youth.”

The Deputy Prime Minister further highlighted the government’s encouragement of investment in key infrastructure—including roads, airports, ports, and security—essential for supporting Somalia’s tourism industry.

He concluded by commending tourism sector workers for their contribution to promoting the country’s image and economic development.
