Mogadishu, SONNA – The Somali Disaster Management Agency (SoDMA) on Monday launched a large-scale project to distribute 700 tons of dates to internally displaced families living in Mogadishu.
The ceremony was attended by the Deputy Commissioner of SoDMA, Dr. Ahmed Abdi Adan, the Ambassador of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to Somalia, H.E. Ahmed bin Mohammed Al-Muwallad, and other officials from both sides.
Speaking at the launch, Ambassador Al-Muwallad, emphasized that the initiative is “vital for vulnerable communities” and expressed hope it would strengthen cooperation between Somalia and Saudi Arabia.
For his part, Abdullahi Abdiqadir Abdi, head of Mahasin Foundation, which is implementing the project, underlined its significance in supporting displaced families in Mogadishu’s camps.
Deputy Commissioner of SoDMA, Dr. Ahmed Abdi, noted that the project will benefit more than half a million people, highlighting its broad impact and importance.
