JEDDAH, SAUDI ARABIA – Somali officials have strongly condemned Israeli aggression in Qatar and have held meetings to bolster diplomatic relations with both Qatar and Oman. The diplomatic activities, which took place in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, focused on solidarity, economic cooperation, and trade.
A Somali delegation, including the Consul General in Jeddah, Dr. Abdul Ali Hersi Abdulle, and the Acting Permanent Representative to the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), Abdurahim Osman Elmi, visited the Qatar Consulate in Jeddah. They were received by the Acting Consul, Mr. Mubarak Naimi. The delegation conveyed Somalia’s strong condemnation of Israeli attacks in Qatar, which targeted civilians and were described as a violation of international law. They also expressed solidarity with the people of Qatar. In response, the Acting Consul of Qatar expressed gratitude for Somalia’s support and also condemned the Israeli aggression.
Following the meeting at the Qatari Consulate, the Somali delegation also visited the Omani Consulate in Jeddah. The discussions with Omani officials focused on strengthening bilateral relations, particularly in areas of trade, investment, and economic cooperation, with a specific interest in Somalia’s natural resources.
The series of meetings highlights Somalia’s proactive diplomatic engagement in the region, aiming to enhance ties and advance its national interests.
