Wanlaweyn, Somalia — The Somali National Independent Electoral and Boundary Commission has launched a voter registration awareness campaign in the Wanlaweyn District. The initiative is a crucial step in the country’s ongoing efforts to prepare for a “one person, one vote” election.

The event, which was attended by members of the community and the local district administration, aimed to inform and encourage residents to register to vote. The commission’s representatives emphasized the importance of public participation in the electoral process, highlighting that a high voter turnout is essential for a credible and democratic election.

The campaign is part of a series of nationwide efforts by the electoral commission to educate the public about the registration process and the significance of their vote. By engaging directly with communities, the commission hopes to build trust in the electoral system and ensure that all eligible citizens have the opportunity to cast their ballot.

The successful launch of the campaign in Wanlaweyn marks a positive development in Somalia’s journey toward political stability and democratic governance, demonstrating a commitment to holding transparent and inclusive elections.
